Do prospects ghost you after the estimate?

Do prospects ghost you after the estimate?

If you own a trade or home service business, this one mistake could be costing you $2,000 to $10,000 per week.

Over the last several years, I've helped local business owners generate more than $67 million in profitable growth, and one of the biggest mistakes I'm seeing right now is emailing quotes instead of reviewing them live with the customer.

Why emailing estimates kills good deals…

The minute you agree to email your estimate, you're cutting short what may be the most important meeting in your entire sales process—the opportunity to work together to shape the project, clarify priorities, answer questions, and build trust before the conversation becomes about price.

Without that additional trust-building experience, prospects often forget what made your solution better the moment they see a lower price.

And then...the ghosting begins.

Now, I understand the reason TO email quotes.

It's easier.

It's faster.

And prospects ASK for the email (often so they can avoid a conversation)

But faster and easier is still wasted time if you don't get the job.

The owners I coach are winning 20% to 40% more deals by making a few simple changes.

They discuss a realistic budget early.

They provide a verbal budget range before investing hours preparing a detailed proposal.

They review the estimate and options in person or via Zoom (this is where you build trust).

Then, if there's a good fit, they schedule the final proposal review—or close the deal before they leave.

The results?

Higher trust.

More transparency.

Less ghosting.

And more sales equals 20-40% more WINS, without MORE leads, and MORE estimates.

If you are emailing quotes and winning less than 80%, I'd encourage you to take a closer look at your estimating process. Sometimes one small change can produce a BIG improvement.
